The pH value is critical to plant growth and health. Too acidic or alkaline soil or nutrient solution can cause some serious plant diseases. A pH range of 5.5 to 6.5 is ideal for most crops. However, the pH value varies all the time. Hence, it is important to calculate the pH value of the soil or nutrient solution regularly. For this, use a pH testing kit. More elaborate pH meters and other instruments need frequent calibration.
Maintenance of the pH sensing probe is very important. Keep the pH probe immersed in a storage solution to improve its lifespan. Also, do not forget to calibrate your instruments from time to time, which will ensure that you get the most accurate readings.
